SB 892 -- REIMBURSEMENT FOR STATE INMATES

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Correctional and State Institutions by a vote of 18 to 0.
This bill requires the state to reimburse counties for reasonable and necessary medical expenses incurred by state inmates while housed in county facilities.
FISCAL NOTE: Cost to General Revenue of $1,500,000 in FY 2001, FY 2002, and FY 2003.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill would relieve some of the financial burden placed on counties by the housing of state prisoners.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Quick; and Missouri Association of Counties.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
